When data is processed
The web host receives connection data when delivering pages. Optional AtomLens features contact PubChem or Apple iCloud when you use or enable them.
If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and message in order to respond.
1) Website
- No analytics / tracking: We do not measure visitors, do not profile users, and do not use third-party trackers.
- No cookies for marketing: We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
- No contact forms: There are no forms that transmit data to us. You may contact us via your email client.
- External links: If you follow a link to an App Store listing or another external website, that provider processes the request under its own privacy policy.
Hosting and server logs: The hosting provider receives technical connection data, including your IP address and the requested page, to deliver this website. It may keep server logs, such as request timestamps and browser information, for operation and protection against abuse. We do not use hosting logs for visitor profiling, advertising, or analytics.
2) QL Provider Inspector (Obscure Essentials® macOS app)
- Local inspection and search: The app reads local file types, metadata, provider and importer declarations, and readable document contents within the locations you choose. Text extraction, OCR, and available Apple Intelligence interpretation run on your Mac.
- No network transmission or tracking: The app sends no files or queries over the network, configures no cloud model, and includes no analytics or tracking.
- Discovery-folder access: Optional folder grants, including Applications and other discovery locations, are stored locally as security-scoped bookmarks. You can remove these grants.
- Temporary search access: Access to the folder selected for Search Diagnostics is temporary and is not saved as a bookmark. Search uses read-only access, does not donate content to an index or force reindexing, and does not execute document scripts.
- Copied output: Reports and search results can include local file paths, metadata, and summaries of readable document contents. Copying does not transmit this output; you choose whether and where to share it.
3) AtomLens (Obscure Essentials® Mac and iPad app)
- Local processing: Molecule and reaction files are parsed, rendered, edited, extracted, and exported on your device. PDF text extraction, optical character recognition, chemical-name conversion, and printed-structure recognition also run on-device. Recognition models are bundled with the app; your PDF and its extracted text are not uploaded for recognition.
- Optional PubChem search: When you submit a search, AtomLens sends your search input to NCBI PubChem over the internet. Additional requests retrieve compound information and, when you choose Import, an SDF structure file. PubChem receives the query and connection information needed to serve these requests. AtomLens does not upload your Managed Repository or a scanned PDF as part of this search. Imported structures are saved in your Managed Repository. See NCBI’s policies and the NLM Privacy and Security Policy.
- Managed Repository sync is optional: If you enable Sync chemical files over iCloud, AtomLens stores Managed Repository content and repository metadata in your Apple iCloud account so it can appear on your AtomLens devices.
- Local repository mode: If repository sync is turned off on a device, the Managed Repository remains available and uses local storage on that device.
- System integration: Spotlight, Quick Look, Finder labels, Files tags, and Files app integration use Apple system services on the device and, where applicable, your Apple iCloud account. Apple’s services are covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Shortcuts and system document context: Actions can find, open, calculate properties for, and export saved chemistry documents. Results are returned to the shortcut you run; later actions may pass them to other services. On OS 27, saved documents and visible library cards can supply document context to Apple’s system index. Unsaved edits and unrelated external files are excluded.
- Local diagnostics: Diagnostic reports can include app, device, and operation information. They are exported locally for you to review and share; AtomLens does not automatically upload them to Obscure Essentials.
- User-controlled exports and sharing: Exported and shared files go to destinations you choose. External destinations may have their own privacy practices.
- Optional Mac automation: If you configure AtomLens’s MCP helper, authorized external clients can search, retrieve, export, or modify Managed Repository content and metadata. The Settings-managed HTTP endpoint is local to your Mac and requires its configured bearer token. An enabled launch-at-login helper may remain available when AtomLens is closed. A connected client may send returned content to its own services; you choose the client configuration and when to run the helper.
- Developer services: No AtomLens account is required. The app contains no advertising or analytics service operated by Obscure Essentials.
4) GlyphGlance (Obscure Essentials® Mac app)
- Local rendering: Documents are rendered on your Mac using bundled resources. No in-app account or hosted rendering service is required, and documents are not uploaded for rendering.
- No collection or tracking: GlyphGlance does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking, and does not collect personal data.
- Local document resources: Remote images are not loaded. Document HTML is displayed as text rather than executed.
- Source files stay unchanged: Reading, changing a preview profile, enlarging a diagram, and exporting PDF or Word files do not edit the original document.
- User-controlled exports, sharing, and copying: PDF and Word exports are saved to a destination you choose. Sharing sends the original document or an individual diagram to the macOS service you select. Copy places diagram representations on the system clipboard, where clipboard managers may retain them. Deliberately opened links use external applications. These recipients have their own privacy practices.
- On-device AI metadata in version 1.2: When Apple Intelligence’s on-device model is available, Info and export can process document excerpts locally to generate a subject and summary, and select an author only from explicit source attribution. No document content is uploaded or sent to a cloud model for this feature. Results are held temporarily in memory, not in a persistent document catalog. Generated metadata is included in PDF and Word exports and travels with the exported file. Export can continue without it.
- Read Aloud: Speech uses Apple’s system speech technology and your selected voices. On macOS 27, Now Playing receives the current reading title and an opaque session identifier, not the document body or file path. Apple controls these system surfaces.
- Optional automation in version 1.2: Shortcuts actions preview a chosen file, export PDF or Word, or return document information. Exports return to the invoking shortcut, which controls subsequent sharing. MCP is off by default and has no network listener. You choose the document folders a trusted client may read, separate export folders, and whether it may open preview windows. You can disable MCP or remove folder access, including access from existing sessions. The client may process or transmit returned document text through its own services; those services have their own privacy practices.
5) Sharing / selling
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use ad networks or advertising identifiers.
6) Data retention
We do not maintain app-usage profiles. If you email us, we retain the email conversation as long as needed to reply and for reasonable record-keeping (you can request deletion where applicable). Local documents, repositories, and exports remain in the storage locations you use. Data sent to optional third-party services is subject to those providers’ policies; hosting logs are handled by the hosting provider.
7) Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your personal data. For EU/EEA/Germany, GDPR rights apply (including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority). For the United States, certain state laws provide similar rights.
To exercise any rights, email support@losko.de.
8) Children
The Services are not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9) Changes
Effective date: 2026-10-18. If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date.
Deutsch (Kurzfassung)
Stand: 18. Oktober 2026.
